How to Host a Prominence II Server With Friends — RAM & Setup
Prominence II RPG (Hasturian Era) is one of the most popular modern Fabric adventure packs — a hand-crafted RPG progression with custom structures, quests and bosses. It's heavier than a typical Fabric pack because of all that bespoke content, so it deserves proper RAM. Here's how to run it well.
How much RAM does Prominence II need?
Prominence II is Fabric, but don't let that fool you into starving it — it's a large content pack, not a lightweight optimisation one. Custom structures and quest logic add real load, especially as your group spreads out and generates fresh terrain.
| Players | Recommended server RAM | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 1–3 | 6 GB | Comfortable for a small co-op run. |
| 4–6 | 8 GB | The sweet spot for most friend groups. |
| 7–10 | 10 GB | More simultaneous exploration and structure-gen. |
| 10+ | 10–12 GB | Pre-generate the world; performance is the ceiling. |
Setup steps
- Pick a plan with 8 GB RAM for a typical group.
- Install 'Prominence II RPG' (Hasturian Era) from the modpack installer, or paste the CurseForge/Modrinth pack — MineXEngine downloads and unpacks it.
- Let the server detect the loader. Prominence II is Fabric; the engine selects the matching Fabric build and the right Java (17 for its 1.20.1 builds) automatically.
- Set difficulty and view-distance (8 is plenty), pre-generate the world a few thousand blocks out, then set your whitelist.
- Start the server, let first-run world-gen finish, and share the IP.
Everyone needs the exact same version
Prominence II updates its quests, structures and mods together, so the server and every client must run the identical pack build. A mismatched client either can't connect or hits missing-content errors mid-game.
Common Prominence II problems
- Under-allocated RAM — it's a big Fabric pack; 4 GB will stutter. Use the table above.
- Structure-gen lag while exploring — pre-generate chunks and keep view-distance modest.
- Version drift — update the server and all clients to the same Prominence II build together after any pack update.
- Wrong Java — it needs Java 17 on its 1.20.1 builds; MineXEngine pins this so it isn't a manual footgun.
MineXHost runs Prominence II on MineXEngine — our launcher auto-detects the modpack, picks the right Minecraft loader and Java version, tunes the JVM for your RAM, and auto-recovers from the crashes that normally end a modded server's evening. Pick your RAM, paste the pack, and play.

How much RAM does a Prominence II server need?
6 GB works for 1–3 players, 8 GB is the sweet spot for 4–6, and 10–12 GB suits 7 or more. It's a large Fabric content pack, so don't run it on the 3–4 GB a lightweight Fabric server would use.
What loader and Java version does Prominence II use?
Prominence II RPG runs on Fabric and, on its 1.20.1 builds, needs Java 17. MineXHost's MineXEngine detects the loader and pins the right Java automatically.
Why does Prominence II lag when we explore new areas?
The pack generates a lot of custom structures, so entering fresh terrain is the heaviest moment. Pre-generate the world around spawn and keep view-distance around 8 to smooth it out.
Do all players need the same Prominence II version?
Yes — the server and every client must run the identical pack build. Prominence II ties its quests, structures and mods together, so a mismatched client will fail to connect or hit missing-content errors.
