Getting Started: Your First MineXHost Server

This walks you from choosing a plan to your friends joining, using the screens you will actually see: the three checkout steps, then your server's control panel. Each step names the page or button to use.

1. Choose a plan

Plans differ by memory (RAM). Player slots are unlimited on every plan; the player counts on each plan card are what runs smoothly, not a cap. Modpacks need more memory than vanilla, and bigger packs need more than small ones.

2. Check out

Checkout has three steps. Choose your plan picks the RAM. Set up your server is where you name the server, pick the Minecraft edition, choose what you will play, and pick your address. Order summary shows the monthly price before you pay.

• Minecraft edition: Java Edition is the desktop game for PC and Mac, and the only edition that runs mods and modpacks. Bedrock Edition is the game on consoles, phones, tablets and the Microsoft Store app on Windows. Players on one edition cannot join a server for the other, so pick the one your players own.
• What you will play: Vanilla is the plain game on the newest official release. If you pick a modpack (Java only), we install it before your first boot. You are not locked in: you can change the pack or the version from your control panel later.
• Your address: Java servers can claim a free name ending in .minexhost.com. Bedrock servers connect by IP address and port, so they get no name.
• Optional extras: a dedicated IP and extra storage, priced at checkout.

To pay, sign in or create an account. Your cart is kept and you come straight back to it.

3. First boot

After you pay, your server is built on one of our nodes. You get an email and a notification in the panel when it is ready to play. MineXEngine, our launcher, picks the Minecraft loader and the Java version for the pack you chose.

If you chose a modpack and it cannot be installed, your server still starts and your order page tells you what happened, so you can retry or pick a different pack. Not every pack boots on a server: our Modpack Test Results page shows how many tested packs pass on each MineXEngine version.

To switch later, open your server and use Software, then Modpack Installer or Version Changer. Take a backup first, because a different pack or version can change an existing world.

4. Whitelist and operators (Java)

1. Open your server, then Software, then Server Properties, and turn on Whitelist. Server properties apply on the next restart, so restart the server after saving.
2. Add players: in World & Players, open Player Manager, open a player, and choose Add to whitelist. For someone who has never joined, type whitelist add followed by their name in the console on your server's Cockpit page.
3. Give a trusted player admin commands the same way: Grant OP in Player Manager, or op followed by their name in the console. Only give OP to people you trust with your world.

5. Share your address

Your dashboard shows your server's connect address with a copy button. Send your players exactly what it shows, including a port if one is listed. Java players add it in Multiplayer, then Add Server. Bedrock players enter the IP address and the port in their Servers tab.

To claim or change a .minexhost.com name for a Java server after checkout, open your server, then Network, then Subdomain.

6. Backups and restoring

Open your server, then Files & Data, then Backups. The line at the top says how often automatic backups run and how many are kept. Press New backup before a big change, such as a new pack or version.

To restore, choose Restore on a backup. The server is stopped, the backup replaces the current world, and the server starts again. A restore cannot be undone, so take a fresh backup first if you might want today's world back.

7. How to cancel

Go to Account, then Subscriptions, and choose Cancel subscription. Your server keeps running until the end of the period you have paid for, then it is suspended. No further payments are taken, and you can resume any time before that date. The period you are already in is not refunded.

Within the 3-day money-back guarantee window the same page shows Cancel and refund. That refunds the order and deletes the server and its world, so download anything you want to keep first.
