The Rollback page lists changes made to your server and puts the server back to how it was right before one of them. It does this by restoring the newest backup that finished before that change, so everything written since is permanently replaced.
Which changes are listed
Open your server, then choose Files & Data and Rollback. The page is headed Put your server back to how it was before a change. It lists these changes:
- A Minecraft version or server software change
- A Bedrock version change
- A modpack install
- A change to your mods
- A world wipe
- A file import
- A backup restore
- An earlier rollback
Each row shows the Change, When it happened, By whom, and the backup it Rolls back to.
Roll back
- If you want to keep anything from the server as it is now, make a New backup on the Backups page first.
- On the Rollback page, find the change you want to undo.
- Click Roll back to before this.
- In Roll this server back?, read the warning and type your server's name.
- Click Roll back.
The server is stopped, rolled back and restarted, and a progress window shows each step. Your server's files go back to how they were right before the change. Everything written since then, including worlds, player data, configs and mods, is permanently deleted. Panel settings, such as the server's name, startup variables and who has access, are not changed.
Check a restore point first
Next to each restore point, a badge says whether it has been test-restored: Not yet verified, a verified date, or a failed check. Press Test restore to check a restore point on our side without touching your server. If a test restore failed, the confirmation warns you, and restoring a different backup from the Backups page may be the safer choice.
Checkpoints
The Modpack Installer and the Version Changer both have a Take a checkpoint first box, ticked by default. It takes a safety backup right before the change you are about to make, and that change waits until the backup has finished. The backup is locked, named Checkpoint before followed by the pack or software, and shows a Checkpoint badge on the Backups page. Leave the box ticked so the Rollback page always has a point to return to.
When rollback isn't available
- Not available on a row means there is no backup from before that change, so rolling back would move your server forward instead. The row says so.
- No restore points yet means the server has no completed backup. Make one with New backup on the Backups page, and changes after that can be rolled back.
- No changes recorded yet means none of the listed changes has happened on this server so far.
- One-click rollback is turned off means you can still restore any backup by hand from the Backups page. You pick the restore point yourself.
- If another restore, rollback, install or version change is still running, nothing is rolled back. Wait for it to finish, then try again.
Good to know
- A rollback replaces the whole server folder, not only the world.
- A rollback is listed as a change itself, so you can roll back a rollback if a backup from before it exists.
- Rollback restores one of your backups, so it can only go back as far as the backups you still have. See Backups: make, download and restore.
