The Dedicated IP add-on

Last updated

The Dedicated IP add-on gives your server its own IP address for a monthly fee, shown on the plans page and at checkout. Players connect on the default Minecraft port, so they don't type a port number. The address is assigned automatically and takes effect after you reboot your server.

What you get

  • An IP address for your server alone, assigned automatically from our pool.
  • Players connect on the default port: 25565 for Java Edition, 19132 for Bedrock Edition.
  • Java players type the IP. Bedrock players enter the IP and leave the Port box on 19132.

Add it at checkout

In the Dedicated IP row, choose Dedicated IP instead of No dedicated IP. For a Java server, pick the Address type: Java (port 25565) is the usual choice. A Bedrock server always gets a Bedrock address on port 19132.

The pool is small. If no address is free, the option reads Sold out and can't be selected, and you are never charged for one. Your server works on our shared address in the meantime.

Add it to an existing server

  1. In your server's page, click Plan & Billing, then open the Add-ons tab.
  2. On the Dedicated IP card, choose Dedicated IP instead of Shared address, then pick the type that matches your server: Java (port 25565) or Bedrock (port 19132).
  3. Press Save add-ons. The Apply these add-ons? window shows your new monthly price and any prorated amount charged now for the rest of this billing period. Press Apply changes.
  4. The page reminds you that A server reboot is required to apply add-on changes. Nothing restarts by itself, so press Restart on your server when it suits you.

If no address of that type is free, the panel says dedicated IPs are sold out and nothing changes or is charged. After the reboot, the new address shows at the top of your server's page. If it doesn't appear after a reboot, open a ticket and name the server.

Remove it

On the same card, choose Shared address, press Save add-ons, then Remove dedicated IP in the Remove your dedicated IP? window. Your monthly price drops straight away, so your next payment no longer includes it. Nothing is refunded for the current period.

Your server keeps the address until it next restarts, and then moves back to the shared address and its own port. Anyone who saved the old address will need the new one. If you don't restart it yourself, we restart the server for you at 5 PM Eastern on the third day after you removed the add-on, and we send a reminder the day before.

When the IP is released

A dedicated IP is tied to an active subscription. If you cancel, your server keeps the IP until the end of the period you've paid for, and the IP is released when the server is suspended at the end of that period. The same happens if a renewal payment fails and is not paid in time.
