Blocked by MineXHost protection? How to get unblocked

Last updated

If MineXHost protection stopped you joining a server, go to minexhost.com/unblock, enter the reference code from your disconnect screen and your Minecraft username, and send the form. You don't need an account. If you own the server, you can also let a player in yourself from Player Allowlist.

How you know it's our protection

When MineXHost protection blocks a connection, Minecraft usually shows "Blocked by MineXHost protection.", a reference code that looks like MX-7KQ4-P2WD, and a link to the unblock page with the code filled in. The server list may show the same message.

Two other messages are not blocks, and clear on their own:

  • "Too many connections from your network. Please wait a minute and try again." Wait a minute, then reconnect. If it keeps happening, use the unblock page.
  • "Checking your connection. Please reconnect." Reconnect.

Some blocks give no message and the connection times out. The unblock page can check for that too.

Ask to be unblocked (players, no account needed)

  1. Use the same network you were playing on, for example the same Wi-Fi. That lets us check the request automatically.
  2. Open minexhost.com/unblock. If you came from the link on your disconnect screen, the code is already filled in.
  3. No code? Press Check my connection. It tells you whether your current connection is blocked, and when the block ends on its own.
  4. Fill in your Minecraft username, the Server address you were joining, anything else we should know, and an email address if you want the result sent to you.
  5. Complete the security check on the page and press Ask to unblock.

You get an answer on the page:

  • You are unblocked: reconnect now. The page says how long the unblock lasts.
  • A person will review your request: our team replies as soon as possible, by email if you gave an address. The page shows your request number.
  • We could not unblock this automatically: the message says why, for example a code that doesn't exist or a block that has already ended.
  • Your connection is not blocked: the server may be offline or full instead. See How do I connect to my Minecraft server?

If your browser reached us over IPv6, Check my connection may not see a block on your game connection, which often uses IPv4. Send the form with your reference code instead.

If you have a MineXHost account

Signed in, open Support, press New ticket and choose the department My IP is blocked. Fill in the reference code, your Minecraft username and the server address, then press Ask to unblock. The same check runs, and the ticket stays in your Support list so you can follow the reply.

Server owners: let a player in

If one of your players is blocked, you can allow their address on your server yourself.

  1. Ask the player for their public IPv4 address. A "what is my IP" search on their device shows it. It looks like 203.0.113.7.
  2. Open your server and choose Network, then Player Allowlist.
  3. Under Let a blocked player in, enter the Player's IP address, how many hours to allow it (the form shows the maximum), and an optional note such as their name.
  4. Press Allow this player.

The allowance covers this server only and ends on its own. Normal connection limits still apply. Entries are listed under Allowed right now, where Remove ends one early. The form accepts IPv4 addresses only, and there is a limit on how many players can be allowed at once.

Players' real addresses may not appear in your server console. Don't use /ban-ip to deal with a problem player: see Why every player shows the same IP address.

When a request reaches our team, it helps to have the reference code, the Minecraft username, the server address and roughly when the block happened.
