Subusers let a friend or teammate help run your server from their own MineXHost account, without you sharing your password. You choose exactly what each person can do, and you can change or remove their access at any time.
Before you start
Your friend needs their own MineXHost account. If they don't have one, they can create one on the sign-up page. Ask them for the username or email they signed up with. See Create an account and sign in.
Add a subuser
- Open your server, then choose Network and Subusers.
- Click Add subuser.
- In Username or email, type your friend's MineXHost username or email.
- Under Permissions, tick what they may do, or start from a template:
- Full access: every permission in the list, including deleting files and backups. Billing, adding subusers and some server settings (such as startup options and the offline MOTD) stay with you.
- Operator: run the server day to day (power, console, edit files, back up and restore, schedules and subdomains), with no deletes, databases or subuser admin.
- Read-only: view everything, change nothing.
- Click Add subuser.
You see "Request accepted. If that account exists, it now has access." Then check the list. If your friend isn't in it, the username or email didn't match an account; try again with the exact spelling.
Your friend then signs in to their own account and finds your server in their server list.
Common permissions
- View console & send commands: lets them use the console.
- Start server, Stop server and Restart server.
- Read / download files, Edit / upload files and Delete files.
- Create backups, Restore backups and Delete backups.
- Manage schedules.
When a choice lets someone permanently delete or overwrite data, or gives them every permission, the panel shows a warning before you save. Give those only to people you trust.
Change or remove access
- Click Edit permissions next to the person to change what they can do. The panel shows what you are granting and revoking before you save.
- Click Revoke to remove them. They lose all access to this server straight away. You can invite them again later.
Good to know
- Subusers are set per server. To give someone access to two servers, add them on each one.
- Your plan and billing stay with your account. Subusers can't see or manage your subscription.
- Making someone a subuser doesn't make them an operator in Minecraft. To op them in game, use Player Manager or the console.
- The Activity Log under Overview shows actions on your server and who took them, in the Actor column.
