Set your server's console timezone and console filter

Last updated

Two settings change how your server's console reads. Console timezone sets the timezone MineXEngine uses for the times in its own console messages and logs. Console filter controls how much of the server's startup noise reaches the console. Both are in Configure, then Settings, and both apply the next time the server starts from stopped.

Set the console timezone

  1. Open your server and choose Configure, then Settings.
  2. On the Console timezone card, pick a zone from Timezone, such as America/New York. If your browser's zone is on the list, Use my timezone picks it for you. Time there now shows the current time in the zone you picked.
  3. Press Save timezone.
  4. Stop the server, then start it. Restarting a running server keeps the old timezone.

What it changes:

  • MineXEngine writes its own console messages and logs in this timezone and names the zone on each line.
  • Lines printed by Minecraft and your mods keep the server clock, which is UTC.
  • The time column at the left of the panel's console shows when each line arrived, in your own browser's local time. This setting doesn't change it.
  • It doesn't change when schedules run. Schedules use a UTC clock: see Schedule automatic restarts, backups and commands.

To go back, pick UTC, save, then stop and start the server.

Set the console filter

  1. In Configure, then Settings, find the Console filter card.
  2. Pick Off, Normal or Strict.
  3. Press Save console filter.
  4. Stop the server, then start it, so the new setting is used.
SettingWhat reaches the console
Normal (the default)Hides the flood of mod and loader startup lines. Keeps chat, commands, joins and leaves, deaths, advancements, Minecraft's normal server messages, and every warning and error.
StrictThe panel describes it as players, chat, commands, deaths, advancements and real errors only. Today it filters the same way as Normal.
OffTurns this filtering off, so mod and loader startup lines show too. Useful when you or support need the full startup output in the console.

The filter only changes what is shown in the console. The full output is still written to the server's log files, including alltime.log in the server's main folder, which you can open in the File Manager.

Console filter vs the console view buttons

The Raw, Normal and Strict buttons above the console itself are a different control. They only change what your browser displays, apply straight away, and don't need a restart. The Settings filter changes what the server sends to the console for everyone. See Use the console and run commands.

Only the server owner can change these two settings. Subusers who can view the server's settings see them read-only. They can't be changed while the server is suspended.
