Set up Votifier for server-list voting sites, and test it

Last updated

Server-list websites use Votifier to tell your server that a player voted, so you can reward them. To set it up, install a Votifier plugin or mod, give it its own extra port from your server's ports, enter that port on each voting site, then use the Votifier Tester to send a test vote and confirm it gets through.

1. Install Votifier

  • Paper, Spigot or Purpur: add the NuVotifier plugin. It is published on SpigotMC and GitHub, which the panel doesn't install from, so upload its jar to the plugins folder in the File Manager.
  • Fabric or Quilt: install NuVotifier from the Recommended add-ons card in the Mod Installer.
  • Forge or NeoForge: add a Votifier mod for your loader, such as Modded Votifier.

Restart the server once so Votifier creates its config file and keys.

2. Give Votifier its own port

Votifier can't share your game port, and voting sites can only reach ports that belong to your server.

  1. Open your server and choose Network, then Allocations.
  2. Press Claim a port. Votifier uses TCP, so choose a type that includes TCP. Note the port number you get.
  3. Open Votifier's config file in the File Manager and set port to that number. If you aren't sure which file that is, run the Votifier Tester: when the port is wrong, its message names the file to edit.
  4. Stop the server, then start it. A new port is only opened when the server starts from stopped.

3. Test it

  1. With the server running, choose World & Players, then Votifier Tester.
  2. Press Send test vote. The test vote comes from a player named MineXPanelTest on a site called MineXPanel.
  3. Read the result. Votifier is working or Test vote delivered means votes will get through.

After a test, the tester shows What to enter on a server-list site: the Votifier address and, when the plugin has one, its public key, each with a copy button. If your Votifier uses a token, the tester tells you which file to open to copy it. Keep the token private.

4. Register on each voting site

Enter your server address and the Votifier port. Most sites then ask for the public key, which is the classic "v1" method. Sites that mention NuVotifier or v2 ask for the token instead. The site's form tells you which.

On plugin servers, Votifier only receives votes. To hand out rewards, add a vote-reward plugin. Many Votifier mods have reward commands in their own config.

If the test fails

  • Votifier isn't set up yet: no Votifier plugin or mod was found. Install one and start the server once so it creates its files.
  • Votifier needs a different port: Votifier is set to your game port, or to a port that isn't one of your server's ports. Claim an extra port as in step 2 and put that number in the config.
  • Nothing is listening on that port or No answer in time: the server may not be running, or Votifier hasn't loaded. Start or restart the server and test again.
  • Votifier rejected the test vote: the key or token on disk may not match what Votifier loaded. Restart the server and test again.

If you still need help, press Copy diagnostic and paste the report into a ticket.

See who voted

The Vote history card under the tester lists the votes your server received, the site each came from, and a top-voters tally. It reads the vote lines Votifier writes to the console, so it stays empty if Votifier is set to quiet. A successful test vote appears there too.

Votifier is a Java Edition feature, so the Votifier Tester is hidden on Bedrock servers.
