Type the code in the Promo code box in your cart and click Apply. A code takes money off the plan price, never off add-ons, and covers either your first payment only or every renewal. The cart tells you which, and what you'll pay at renewal, before you pay.
Apply a code
- Pick your plan and click Order Now to open your cart.
- In the Order summary, type the code in the Promo code box. Codes aren't case-sensitive.
- Click Apply. When the code works, the cart shows it as applied with the discount, for example "YOURCODE applied: 20% off", and adds a Coupon Discount line above Total today.
Some promotions are applied for you. If the cart already shows a code applied when it opens, you don't need to do anything. Click Remove if you'd rather not use it.
Codes can only be added in the cart, before you pay. On the payment page the code is locked in; to change it, go back to your cart. There's no way to add a code to a server you've already bought.
What a code covers
- Plan price only. Add-ons such as a Dedicated IP or extra storage are always full price.
- First payment only. The cart shows a line such as "Full price after the first month (YOURCODE is first month only)", and the applied code says "Discount applies to your first billing cycle. Renewals are at full price."
- Every renewal. The cart shows a line such as "From next month, with YOURCODE 20% off every month." The Renews at amount already includes the discount.
An every-renewal discount stays with the server's subscription. If you change plan later, the discount moves to the new plan as long as the code covers that plan; a code that only covers certain plans ends if you move to a plan it doesn't cover. If a subscription ends and you start a new one for the same server, the old code isn't carried over.
A code can also be limited to certain plans, to certain dates, to a number of uses overall, or to a number of uses per customer.
If a code doesn't work
The cart tells you why:
- "That promo code doesn't exist." Check the spelling.
- "That promo code isn't active right now." The code exists but hasn't started yet or has been switched off.
- "That promo code has expired."
- "That promo code doesn't apply to this plan." Try a plan the code covers.
- "That promo code has reached its redemption limit." It has been used as many times as allowed, overall or by you. Because the per-customer limit is checked when you place the order, this message can also appear on the payment page.
- "That promo code no longer applies to this plan." You switched plans after applying it, and the new plan isn't covered.
- "We couldn't re-check that code for this plan. Apply it again." or "Could not check that code. Try again." The check didn't go through. Click Apply again.
If a code you were given still won't apply, open a ticket with the code and the plan you're ordering before you pay, because a code can't be added to an order once it's paid.
