Which payment methods can I use, and how do I change my card?

Last updated

MineXHost takes card payments through Stripe: Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover. Stripe's payment form can also offer Apple Pay, Google Pay or Link when your device and browser support them. The card you pay with is saved for your renewals, and you manage it on the Billing page.

What we accept

  • Credit and debit cards: Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover.
  • Apple Pay, Google Pay and Link, shown by Stripe's form when your device and browser support them.

On the MineXHost payment page, cards and those wallets are the only ways to pay. Prices are in US dollars.

Where your card is stored

You type your card into Stripe's secure form, so the number goes straight to Stripe and never reaches MineXHost servers. We keep only Stripe's reference to the card, plus its brand, last four digits and expiry date so you can recognise it, and a note if it stops working.

Your card is saved when you pay

Every plan is a monthly subscription, so the card you pay with at checkout is saved for your renewals. The payment page says so with Your card is saved for your monthly renewal. Next time you buy, you can pick a saved card under PAY WITH, or choose Use a different card.

Change your card

Cards are managed on the Billing page (/account/billing), in the Payment methods section. The Payment Methods tab in your account shows your card but can't change it; use the Billing link on that tab.

  • Replace swaps a card for a new one. The old card is removed only after the new one is saved and working. Nothing is charged.
  • Add card saves an extra card. Enter it in the form and click Save card. Nothing is charged now.
  • Make default chooses which card pays your renewals. The default card shows Default and Used for your renewals. You can't make a card default if it's marked Not usable.
  • Remove appears only when a card can go: when you have another working card on file, or when you no longer have an active plan. Click Remove, then Yes, remove.

While you have an active plan and only one card, that card stays on file so your server renews without interruption. Replace it if it has changed. Saved cards are deleted automatically if you close your account.

When a card stops working

A card marked Not usable has expired, been replaced by your bank, or had its last payment declined. Add a replacement so your server keeps renewing.

If a renewal has already failed, replacing the card doesn't retry the payment by itself. Open Subscriptions, choose the server, and click Pay now. See How billing works.

Your bank may ask you to confirm a payment, for example with a code in your banking app. At checkout and when you add a card, this happens on the same page. If your bank wants to confirm a charge on your saved card, such as an upgrade, the panel tells you to re-enter your card in Billing and try again.

If you paid on Stripe's checkout page

For orders paid on a checkout page hosted by Stripe, Link, Stripe's merchant of record service, holds your payment details and charges your renewals. Change your card at link.com; the receipt email from Link explains how. Those cards don't appear on the Billing page.
