Every MineXHost plan can run the official Bedrock Dedicated Server, the real Bedrock server software. Pick Bedrock Edition at checkout, or switch an existing server in the Version Changer. Bedrock players join with an IP address and a port. One-click crossplay between Java and Bedrock is not available yet.
Java or Bedrock?
Java and Bedrock are two different games, and players on one can't join a server for the other. On PC and Mac, the launcher titled Java Edition is Java. The Microsoft Store app on Windows is Bedrock, and so are consoles, phones and tablets. Pick the edition your players own.
Choose Bedrock when you order
- At checkout, under Minecraft edition, choose Bedrock Edition.
- Under What you'll play, the first card becomes Bedrock server. The modpack card is turned off and reads Java Edition only, because Bedrock can't load Java mods.
- The address field explains that Bedrock servers connect by IP address and port, so no subdomain is created.
There are no separate Bedrock plans. Bedrock runs on the same plans as Java.
Switch an existing server to Bedrock
- Stop the server. The Version Changer won't run while it is online.
- Open your server, then choose Software and Version Changer.
- Pick Bedrock, then the version you want.
- Leave Take a checkpoint first ticked, so you have a backup from before the switch.
- Click Change Version.
The Version Changer warns that switching software types can leave stray files, and suggests a wipe for a clean start. For a move between Java and Bedrock, a wipe is the cleaner choice. You can switch back to Java from the same page.
How players connect
Your server's page shows the IP address and the port as two separate values, with a dot that reads Port reachable, Port not answering or Port unconfirmed.
- On the shared address, your server answers on its own port, not 19132. Players enter the address, then type your port number in the Port box.
- With a Dedicated IP, your server uses Bedrock's default port, so players leave the Port box on 19132.
For step-by-step joining, see How do I connect to my Minecraft server?
Dedicated IP for Bedrock
At checkout, a Bedrock order's Dedicated IP is always a Bedrock address on port 19132. On an existing server, open Plan & Billing, go to the Add-ons tab, choose Dedicated IP, pick Bedrock (port 19132), and reboot the server afterwards. If no Bedrock address is free, the panel says dedicated IPs are sold out, and nothing is charged. See The Dedicated IP add-on.
What's different on Bedrock
- Install Bedrock add-ons and resource packs (.mcaddon and .mcpack files) from Software then Add-ons (Bedrock).
- Player Manager, Give Items, World Map, Votifier Tester and Datapacks are hidden on Bedrock servers, because they rely on Java-only features.
- Java mods, plugins and modpacks can't run on Bedrock.
Crossplay
Crossplay lets Java and Bedrock players join the same server. MineXHost doesn't offer one-click crossplay yet, so pick the edition most of your players use.
